Step into a world where art and emotion meet—my world. At Deborra Marshall Bohrer Studio here in Boise, I create paintings that explore the heart of human perception. I’ve designed the gallery to be simple yet sophisticated, with a dark backdrop that lets each piece breathe and shine, giving you space to really experience the work. Have you ever felt that soft tug of nostalgia or the spark of a dream waiting to unfold? Through symbolism and color, I try to capture those exact feelings and invite you to pause, reflect, and connect.

Each painting is a dance between me and the canvas, capturing moments that stir emotions. The gallery is open for you to explore these captivating works, each accompanied by a detailed description. You’ll find yourself lost in the layers of color and depth, reaching that moment of recognition where the art speaks directly to you.

I’d love for you to stop by and discover the piece that resonates with your spirit.

Art That Speaks to the Soul
Feel the connection with every piece

“Art is a reflection of life that resides in all of us, it is the wooden spoon that stirs our soul.

My paintings are a glimpse into the core of human perception.  The use of light, color, and symbolism provokes thoughts and memories of the past and hopes that linger just out of reach for the future. “

As a child my imagination was enlivened by color and imagery in the natural world.  I was most excited when I was able to live in the moment when the sense of exploration never failed to provide an outcome of delight.   It was the treasured old oak tree in the back which grounded me and whispered sweet nothings in my ear.   Climbing as high as I could I would find a sturdy branch to nestle in the crook of its arms.   I could feel the tree swaying in the breeze and the dappled sunlight dancing on my skin.  Then I could dream about lofty ideas.   It was the dark and humid nights when the lightening bugs came out and I would run after them with the wet grass underfoot and the silhouettes of the trees stood with majesty against the starlit sky.

Coming from the city to the country I was immersed in the natural world on my grandfather’s farm.  I would lie on the back of my horse by the pond.   I would feel his muscles shifting underneath me while he nibbled the grass and I watched the clouds form into wonderful images as they built into huge thunderheads and the sky would be awash in golds, roses, greens, purples and dark grays.  I could smell the rain coming.   I would jump into the corn bin barefoot and sink into the trough of golden kernels surrounded by the fragrance of old wood, musty organic material, and fresh cut hay….These moments, etched in my memory, continually refresh my childhood delight at play and the richness of the colors I use.  As an adult, I have a deep love for the wilderness and the wildness of the mountains.  By immersing myself in the beauty and innocence of nature I can hold the joys of my childhood in my heart.

The importance of an artist’s process is a mystery to many. It is an exploration into the imaginings and magic of a world that continuously unfolds. Finding delight in the most delicate and minute, to the amazement of the grandest scale informs the soul’s creativity. My work is a collection of many materials and writings. Often my work is inspired by deeply intrinsic thoughts that come from within or are ignited by certain poets’ words.

It is important to me that my work resonates with the viewer and encourages a fresh pilgrimage into these paintings which is unique to that individual.   Savoring our past and helping to unfold our common experiences no matter where they took place is what unites all of us in the universal community.

My paintings are not predetermined.  I wait for the door of my imagination to open and find that there is an inspired direction that is not of my choosing.  It becomes a dance with the canvas. I then patiently add layers of color until the depth of the paint reveals the life of the subject.  Then there is that wonderful moment……..Ahhh there you are.”    Deborra

What Sets My Work Apart

At my studio, Deborra Marshall Bohrer Studio, I truly believe in the transformative power of art. Nestled here in Boise, my gallery reflects the local culture I love and the artistic spirit that inspires me every day. My approach to painting is both deeply personal and intentionally universal—I aim to capture moments of life that stir emotion and invite reflection.

The space itself is designed to let each piece speak for itself. With a darker backdrop, the colors and textures stand out more vividly, creating an atmosphere where you can connect with the artwork on your own terms.

Every brushstroke, every color choice is made with the hope of offering you something meaningful—whether that’s a gentle friend, a bold companion, or simply a new perspective.

I’d love for you to come experience it for yourself and see how art might touch your journey.
